    Havelock Wool Insulation

Mr Hemp House® is a Havelock Wool Pro Installer

Natural sheep-wool insulation can be a strong option when a project needs a bio-based cavity insulation with useful thermal, acoustic, and moisture-management characteristics. Mr Hemp House® evaluates Havelock Wool as part of the complete wall, roof, floor, or retrofit assembly—not as an isolated product decision.

    Bio-Based Fiber

Havelock Wool uses natural wool fiber rather than a petroleum-derived foam system. Material selection still needs to be evaluated against code, assembly, climate, and project requirements.

    Batts & Loose Fill

Current Havelock PRO batt products are offered in R-14 and R-22 configurations. Loose-fill wool is available across higher total R-value configurations for attic and cavity applications.

    Whole-Assembly Design

Wool insulation should be detailed with the air-control, vapor-control, framing, ventilation, and finish layers that make the complete assembly work.

    Current Havelock Wool product formats

Havelock Wool currently markets PRO batt insulation in R-14 and R-22 products for common framing layouts, along with loose-fill wool sold in configurations from approximately R-15 through R-60 total installed R-value. For blown wool planning, Mr Hemp House uses the manufacturer-referenced figure of approximately R-4.3 per inch, while final installed performance should follow the current product documentation and project-specific installation density.

    Where wool insulation can fit

    • Attic and roof assemblies where loose-fill insulation is appropriate
    • Exterior wall cavities in retrofit or new construction
    • Interior walls and floors where acoustic performance matters
    • Irregular cavities where blown insulation can fill around obstructions
    • Projects seeking a bio-based alternative to conventional cavity insulation

Why Mr Hemp House evaluates wool

The Healthy Home Platform does not assume one insulation material is right for every house. We compare the actual assembly requirements: thermal target, fire and code constraints, drying potential, air control, moisture exposure, acoustic goals, labor, cost, and available product documentation. Wool can be a compelling option when those requirements align.

Wool vs. hemp insulation vs. hemp-lime

Wool and hemp-fiber products are cavity insulation materials. Hemp-lime systems such as GaiaCrete™ serve a different enclosure role and are usually evaluated as part of a thicker wall or retrofit system. The correct material depends on what the assembly needs to do rather than which product has the highest nominal R-value per inch.

    Installation and availability

Mr Hemp House® is a Havelock Wool Pro Installer. We provide professional evaluation and installation support for healthy-home insulation projects where operationally available. Project availability varies by market. Product-specific design and installation should follow current manufacturer instructions, local code requirements, and the requirements of the complete building assembly.

Insulation is one exposure and performance layer inside the home. A healthier insulation choice does not replace the need to address indoor air, moisture, ventilation, flooring, cabinetry, furniture, water, cleaning chemistry, and other product/material sources.
