Mr Hemp House® is now an ENERGY STAR partner. It is a milestone we take seriously, because energy performance and health performance are the same conversation. A home that leaks air, holds moisture, and runs its equipment harder than it should is rarely a comfortable home — and often not a healthy one either.
What ENERGY STAR Actually Is
ENERGY STAR is a program backed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that sets efficiency specifications for products, homes, and buildings. On the residential side, ENERGY STAR certified homes follow a defined set of requirements covering the thermal enclosure, HVAC design and installation, water management, and third-party verification.
Partnership means Mr Hemp House® works within that framework and uses its specifications as a reference standard. It does not mean the EPA endorses our company, our materials, or any specific project, and it does not mean every home we touch is automatically certified. Certification is earned home by home, verified by an independent rater.

Aligning our guidance with ENERGY STAR requirements means the recommendations we hand back — seal here, insulate there, get the ventilation checked, verify equipment sizing before you replace it — point toward the same targets a certified home would need to hit.
New Construction and GaiaCrete™
For new builds, the partnership sharpens how we advise on design. High-performance enclosures, careful water management, and right-sized mechanical systems are the foundation; healthier material selection is layered on top. GaiaCrete™, our hempcrete alternative, contributes a monolithic, breathable wall assembly with thermal mass and moisture-buffering behavior, at approximately R-2.5+ per inch as a planning reference. Thermal mass and continuous assemblies help real-world comfort in ways a single R-value does not capture, but the enclosure still has to be designed, verified, and documented to meet program requirements.
